About Beechcraft

Beechcraft is a brand of Textron Aviation, and they hold a long history of manufacturing aircraft for general aviation, commercial, and military applications. Beechcraft was first established in 1932 as the Beech Aircraft Company, and their initial operations consisted of the design and development of the Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing. With its first flight conducted later that same year, Beechcraft quickly took off in sales as over 750 units were produced.  Many of their produced Staggerwing models were also used in World War II by the United States Army Air Forces.

For their efforts during the war, Beechcraft was awarded with the Army-Navy “E” Award. In 1947, Beechcraft released its Beechcraft Bonanza model, that of which has had the longest production run of any aircraft across the globe. Alongside the revolutionary Bonanza model, Beechcraft also developed other popular aircraft around this time such as the King Air and Super King Air line of twin-engine turboprops.

In 1980, Raytheon Company purchased Beechcraft, and they were later merged together with Raytheon’s Hawker Product line in 1993 to form Raytheon Aircraft Company. In 2006, Raytheon sold Raytheon Aircraft Company to Goldman Sachs, and thus Hawker Beechcraft was formed.  In 2012, Hawker Beechcraft entered bankruptcy, and a year later they reemerged as Beechcraft Corporation. As the newly reestablished entity, Beechcraft continued their King Air line alongside the production of various military aircraft. In 2013, Textron purchased Beechcraft, continuing to release their various aircraft under the brand name Beechcraft.
